Fairfield, CA — Vanden fell to Fairfield on Monday despite out-hitting 11 hits to seven. Isaiah Shahan collected four hits in four at-bats in the loss. Shahan singled in the first inning driving in two runs, singled in the third innings, fifth inning, and in the seventh inning. Vanden led 2-0 after the top half of the first inning, but Fairfield responded with 3 in the bottom half. Vanden tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Shahan and would later score on a sacrifice fly by Cayne Hill. Ryan Cahalan took the loss for Vanden. The starting pitcher went four innings, striking out three and walking three. Jack Tranchina and Alex Maushart each collected multiple hits. Tranchina went 3-4 with a run scored, while Maushart went 2-4 with two runs scored. Vanden returns to action of Wednesday when they host Fairfield at 4PM.
