Fairfield, CA — On Monday, 3/18 the Vanden JV Vikings visited the Falcons from Fairfield High School for the Metropolitan Empire League opener for both teams. The Vikings defeated the Falcons by the final score of 21-1. The win improves the Vikings record to 4-3 overall, and 1-0 in M.E.L. play. Ryan Watson earned the win in the game that was shortened due to the mercy rule. The sophomore worked the initial 3 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit, while fanning 6 Falcons. Dylan Pineda worked the final 2 frames. The freshman gave up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 6 and issuing 3 free passes. Offensively, the Vikings were led by Lucky Perez who was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, he was hit by a pitch, and reached one time by way of an error by the defense. Perez reached base in all 5 of his plate appearances, resulting in scored runs all 5 times.
