Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings were victorious against Fairfield 5-2 on Wednesday. Fairfield took the lead 2-0 and Vanden tied the game in the bottom of the third on a triple by Alex Maushart that scored Kekoa Grinton. Maushart would later score on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Alcantara. Vanden took a 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to doubles by Alcantara and Austin Hammerschmidt. Mariano Gonzalez earned the win for Vanden. The starting pitcher surrended three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Chris Marley finished the last two innings to collect the save. Vanden piled up 12 hits in the game. Alcantara provided the pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Vikings with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Kekoa Grinton and Jack Tranchina each collected three hits for Vanden. Cayne Hill collected two hits for Vanden in three at-bats. Vanden will travel to Fairfield on Thursday to play the final game of the series.
