Fairfield, CA — On Monday, 4/8 the Vanden JV Vikings travelled across town to tangle with the Royals from Armijo High School in Metropolitan Empire League play. The Vikings were victorious by a score of 10-0 in the first game of their 3-game series with Armijo. The win improves Vanden’s record to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in MEL play. Ryan Watson was the starting pitcher for the Vikings. The sophomore cruised through his 5 innings of work. He allowed 0 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 6 and not issuing any free passes. Watson highlighted the performance with an “immaculate inning” in the 2nd frame. He completed the inning on 9 pitches and struck out all 3 batters. Dylan Pineda came in relief to finish the job for Watson. He struck out 3 Royals in in his 2 scoreless innings.
