Fairfield, CA — On Friday, 4/19 the Vanden JV Vikings were dealt the final blow of a 3-game sweep at the hands of Vacaville High School. The final score was 10-0, finishing a week that saw the Bulldogs outscore the Vikings 26-2 total. The loss drops Vanden’s record to 11-8 overall and 7-5 in MEL play. Vanden’s starting pitcher, Brian Lanigan was only able to log 2 2/3 innings as the defense behind him just wasn’t able to help him out. The home team made 4 errors behind him making pitching very difficult. At the end of the day, Lanigan would be responsible for 7 runs scored with 4 if those being unearned. The young JV Vikings took it on the chin this week, but hopefully gained some experience with playing under pressure. Hopefully, the team can use this week’s struggles as motivation for next week’s series versus Rodriguez High School.
