Port Washington, WI — The Spartans erupted for 12 runs in the sixth inning, including three two-run homers, to break the game open. West went up 1-0 on Breleigh Ustruck's RBI single in the second inning. A two-run double by Mackenzie Rolf and RBI ground out by Ustruck made it 4-0 in the third. Ustruck launched a two-run homer in the fifth to put West up 6-1. Rolf started the fireworks in the sixth with a two-run homer. Karissa Jenz singled home a run and Riley Weber's bases-loaded single plated two runs and a third scored on an error. Mia Buske singled home Weber ahead of Lindsay Sandleback's two-run homer. Paige Guse doubled ahead of a two-run homer by Jenz. Guse, Maiya Tearney and Ustruck had three hits each and Ava Thelen, Rolf, Jenz and Weber had two each. Tearney went the distance for the win, holding Port to a single run ahead of a three-run sixth. She fanned six. Sierra Miller hit two home runs for the Pirates. West improved to 13-2 on the season and 12-1 in North Shore Conference play.
