Point pleasant, NJ — Following a winning dual meet season, the Freehold Boro Colonials entered the postseason at The District 24 tournament. At the conclusion of the seeding meeting, Freehold Boro only had two kids seeded in the top four of their weight class. The Colonials came out on fire in the quarterfinals and seven kids won to advance to the semi-finals. Not one wrestler lost to a lower lower seeded wrestler. Meaning, we had 5 wrestlers beat wrestlers who were ranked higher. It was a truly outstanding performance. Overall, we had 7 wrestlers place in the Top 4 🥇 - Carter Stokes 🥈- Josiah Sweeney 🥉- Xander Bartuck and Riley Tate 4th- Sam Sheridan, John Murphy and Onesimo Nieto Carter became the first heavyweight district champion for Freehold Boro, since Alex Schibanoff won the District in 1936. Many of you have probably driven down Schibanoff Road. Since Freehold Boro already has a Stokes Street, I'm not sure we can get another road named in Carter's honor, but the young man should be commended for his efforts regardless. Tonight, Friday 2/23, the four wrestlers who placed in the top 3 at the district (Stokes, Sweeney, bartuck and Tate) will be competing at the Region 6 tournament at Jackson liberty. Wrestling will start at 430. Parking is limited because there will also be a School musical being conducted at the same time.
