San Juan Capistrano, CA — Both teams were missing top players who got moved up to fill in for varsity spots in this extra match, which does not count towards league standings….. which was good for us. In addition to the absence of Enzo and HB, we put players in different positions just to try some things out…not something we will be doing in the actual rematch on April 11th. Originally, we were supposed to play an all doubles format, however, we didn’t have 12 players. In the singles division, we only won 2 sets - 1 by Lucas Johnson in the final set, 7-5; the other by Michael Aceves 7-6 (7-1). These guys played hard all day, as did Thomas Gormley and Jacob LeBrun, who played 2 sets of singles until Sam showed up. We won 5 of 7 sets of doubles, which speaks to the strength and depth of our team. Kayden Kral and Robert Thornton took 2 of 3, as did Luke Krolikowski and Logan Lebsack, who played their best all season. Great job today guys! Sam Gou hustled over after an AP physics test and played 1 set of doubles with Jacob, which they won 6-1. Well done. Next up: Tuesday, April 9th vs Mater Dei, 3pm at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
