Trumbull, CT — AMAZING TODAY!!!!!!!! We are so proud of these girls. We held our own against one of the best teams in the area, we were aggressive, we played with heart, and we never gave up. 🏃🏽‍♀️Let's start with the baserunning- stellar. Ava, Ariyah, Ella, and Summer really stood out, along with (of course) Fancy Lainey. What doesn't hit the stat sheet was Ellie and Zoey narrowly beating out throws at home with some nice footwork. 🏟️Fundamentals in the field? Again, stellar. Highlights include some great stops by Ella and Leigh in the field, solid play at first from Nina and Zoey, and Mia L making probably the best throw l've seen this spring from center field after a very well hit ball that went further than I thought a 10 year old could ever hit a ball. The girls were ready, made some truly great stops, backed each other up, supported each other, and we are thrilled. 🥎Batting? Absolutely they did great against 2 solid pitchers who were VERY fast. We swung bats, took chances, and really made them worry. Ariyah and Leigha had great hits for us, and a few other highlights include Summer, Ella, Mia L, and Lainey really coming into their own with some great at bats. Ellie took some great cuts from both sides of the plate and certainly stands out as the only switch hitting 10u player around. These things don't hit the stat sheet, but they are so important. It was good to see Summer taking the pitcher deep into the count with 2 outs and the bases loaded, and despite the pressure of the situation, bravely swing away with some really great cuts. 🥎Our catchers? Mia and Leigha made great stops, great throws, and paced the game for us. I heard from the other coaches how impressive a job these 2 kids did. And last, but not least, the pitching. Now, keep in mind, these Fury girls can hit- really hit. Zoey pitched 3 innings, gave up only 4 runs, and had 7 strikeouts outs. Nina pitched 3 as well, striking out 6, and giving up 6.
