Swiftwater, PA — Mason Avery ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns, and Aiden Collins threw for 97 yards and a touchdown, and had a pair of interceptions on defense to lead Honesdale to a second straight convincing win to start the season. The seventh-ranked Hornets rolled to a 43-20 win over Pocono Mountain East on Friday in a nonleague football game. Honesdale carried the momentum of its 17-point win over East Stroudsburg North last week and is 2-0 for the first time since 2005. "I can sum up tonight with one word: Consistency," Honesdale coach Paul Russick said. "This win didn't happen because of anything we specifically did tonight. It happened because of the consistent effort we have gotten from this group of young men all offseason, and from the consistent effort we have gotten from them in the weight room. "They have consistently shown up over the past five years and it showed tonight." Honesdale controlled the line of scrimmage and powered its way to 350 yards on the ground and 447 yards of total offense. Avery scored on runs of 4, 33, and 89 yards and has 335 yards rushing this season. He gave the Hornets a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and pushed it to 14-0 with a 33-yard scoring run. Bradley Bibalo gave Honesdale a 20-0 lead in the second quarter on a 7-yard touchdown reception from Collins. After Pocono Mountain East closed within 20-6, Honesdale kicker Rylan Montgomery drilled a 33-yard field goal of a 23-6 lead at the half. Avery gave the offense a jolt in the third with an 89-yard touchdown run, then Collins returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown to make it 36-6. In addition to his two interceptions and 97 yards passing, Collins had 59 yards rushing. Pocono Mountain East scored a touchdown on its next possession, and Honesdale's Kobe White returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
