The Bluejays hosted their final meet of the regular season last night as they faced off against the Johnnies of St. John’s University.
Action started at 184, where Aidyn Wolfe (Fr. Riverview, FL) got the Bluejays on the board with a tightly contested 13-8 victory!
Following some hard fought losses at 197, 285, and 125, the Bluejays forfeited at 133 and both teams forfeited at 141.
Action resumed at 149 where Joey Wilczek (Fr. Little Falls, MN) earned a tightly contested win of his own to get the Bluejays back on track! The Johnnie’s found wins of their own at 157 and 165.
In the final regulation match of the evening, Sam Rock (Fr. Luverne, MN) put an exclamation point on a great regular season by earning a dominating 9-2 victory over his opponent at 174!
Following the dual, both teams wrestled exhibition matches at 184 and 285. In the final match of the night, Nicholas Lyle (Fr. Brandon, FL) gave the fans an exciting finish earning a fall a little over a minute into the 285 exhibition match! The Bluejays ultimately fell to the Johnnies 34-9.
“We asked our guys to go out tonight with only a couple things in mind.. compete and have fun! Though the score may be a little deceiving, we saw some massive improvements from each guy tonight. Really good momentum to have heading into the Regional tournament.” -Coach Curry
