Fillmore, CA — What a great start to the season! We kicked off our regular season against the Fillmore Raiders (Silver). We had a chance to face off against them at the jamboree, so we had an idea of what we were up against. Our boys executed and won on all three phases of the game. I guess special teams was a push because every kick went 12-15 yards and ended with the returning team jumping on it like a fumble. The offense didn’t even get the chance to open the playbook. Our outside zone worked at will and we didn’t even see a third down on offense all day. Levi Bradshaw scored all 5 touchdowns (as well as a 2pt conversion). Most of those touchdowns being sprung by lead blocker Richard Bardsley. Dylan Fruchtman played a solid game a QB and punched 3 2pt conversions himself. On defense we won the turnover battle, which will be the key to victory in most of the games in this division. Joseph Martinez was a standout on defense where he had a chance to show off his elite ball skills with his interception in the first quarter. Dylan Fruchtman was on the pressure. Dylan also recorded 8 total tackles along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Theo Gonzalez had a fumble recovery on defense and was in the mix through the entire game. We would be remiss to leave out the fact that Levi Bradshaw recorded 9 total tackles and flew around the field like a missile. While on the edge Hayden Sjoberg had two huge tackles for loss, one of which was a sack with assistance from Cam Balestier. The Warriors were up by 16 in the 4th quarter and the Raiders pretty much ran the clock out. It was a fun game and confidence is building. Our mighty mite Warriors are still getting better every day and they are a force to be reckoned with. - Coach Mike Fruchtman
