Recap
Saugus, CA — Players of the game:
Matthew Arana - Matthew played another excellent game where his skills with the ball and his ability to see the play developing, was very apparent, when he placed himself in the right position to receive a pass and take an incredibly well placed shot from approximately 25 yards out to give us our first goal of the game.
Charles Gonzalez - Charles has shown his tenacity on a consistent basis all season. His effort and drive, exhibited themselves again early in the second half, when he received a pass from Marcos Santos, and fought his way through two defenders to take an extremely well driven shot from approximately 23 yards out to give us our second goal of the game.
I also want to give credit to several other players. With this game being scheduled during our winter break, having a few players out on vacation, and several players out due to illness and injury, we needed to rely on players in positions they don't normally play.
Our center backs, Easton Rubsamen and Hunter Blankenship, both played the entire game without rest and were able to hold the Golden Valley offense to 1 goal. Their work on our back line was a very large part of our ability to deter GV attacking opportunities and regaining possession of the ball, allowing us to control the pace of the game.
Several other players played out of position, and were able to provide us quality play, allowing us to hold onto our 2 -1 lead and get another victory.
Coach Dominic and I couldn't be more proud of the resilience and drive the team exhibited to pull out a very well earned win.
