Carmichael, CA — Sac High dropped the opening game of the Sac Adventist Holiday Classic, falling to the host Sac Adventist Capitals 45-33. After pulling even with the Capitals 9-9 after the first quarter, the Lady Dragons pulled ahead 15-12 midway through the second quarter, but went cold and didn't score again for the remainder of the half, falling behind 23-15 as Adventist closed the 2nd quarter on an 11-0 run. The cold spell coincided with the departure of Freshman post Chrisshaya Haygood who rolled her ankle early in the second quarter. Up until the injury, Haygood had completely shutdown the middle as she had 5 first half blocks. Sac managed to pull within 7 points by the end of the trailing 33-26, but then again went cold and only scored 7 points the rest of the game. Senior La Ne Dunn led the Dragons with 13 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, while freshman Rien Osby 8 points (2 3pointers). The Lady Dragons will next face Fowler High School looking to get on track.
