Elk Grove, CA — The new look Lady Dragons of Sacramento Charter High School, or Sac High as it is affectionately known, wanted to make a strong impression in the Fortune Showcase matchup against Weston Ranch of Stockton. That indeed is precisely what these Lady Dragons did on this Saturday afternoon, leaving a very strong impression in what should be a very good season. Using a swarming full court pressure defense, the Lady Dragons used a mid third quarter 18-2 run to cruise past Weston Ranch 52-35. The Lady Dragons were in control from the outset, and never seemed threatened in this game. However, the 2024-25 edition, featuring 5 freshman and 6 seniors turned it up a notch in the second half to erase any doubt of Weston Ranch being in this game. La Ne Dunn led the way with 23 points, followed by a double-double from freshman Chrisshaya Haygood with 10 points 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. This fun group of Lady Dragons kept high energy throughout the contest and never let Weston Ranch establish any type of rhythm leading to an easy defeat, that wasn't as close as the final score would suggest. The Lady Dragons, who improved to 3-1, will next play West Park in the first round of the River City Rumble on the River tournament.
