Parlin, NJ — On Friday December 13th, the Sayreville Bombers Blue kicked off their season with a home win against a tough division opponent North Brunswick. The Bombers stormed out to an early 20-8 led by their pressing defense mixed with solid man to man fundamentals and an aggressive transition offense. Their balanced attack, with 7 different players scoring in the 2nd quarter alone, allowed the team to extend their lead to 42-20 at the half. North Brunswick put some heat on the Bombers in the 3rd and 4th quarters with their press but the Bombers were able to pull away in the 4th. Sayreville won the game 72-48. Game 1 Team Captains Jaiir Simmon and Colin Maher provided great all around performances and leadership. Returning player Andria Saakashvili dominated on the glass with an impressive 15 rebounds and key baskets around the rim. The scoring was led by newcomers Tyler McQuiller and Landon Gregory who consistently attacked the basket for 4 quarters. The Bombers next game is Wednesday December 18th at Churchill.
