Pine Bush Bushmen Defeat Millbrook Blazers 58-52 in Saturday Showdown
Pine Bush 58, Millbrook 52
Millbrook, NY — The Pine Bush Bushmen came out strong on Saturday, holding off a late comeback from the Millbrook Blazers to secure a 58-52 victory in front of a packed crowd. From the opening tip, Pine Bush took control of the game, demonstrating both offensive firepower and tight defense.
The Bushmen quickly jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Blazers 19-10. With crisp ball movement and impressive shooting, they extended their advantage to 32-19 by halftime. The Blazers struggled to find their rhythm, but Pine Bush’s defense forced them into tough shots, while the Bushmen capitalized on fast breaks and offensive rebounds.
Millbrook came out with renewed energy in the second half, mounting a strong comeback in the third quarter. However, Pine Bush's offense was too much to handle, as they continued to attack the basket and knock down key shots down the stretch.
“We came out strong early, but Millbrook definitely made it a game in the second half,” said Pine Bush head coach Kevin Kreeger. “I’m proud of how our guys stayed composed and finished it off. We know we have a lot of basketball left to play, but this is a big win for us as we build momentum heading into next week.”
The Bushmen’s first victory will help build momentum into their upcoming matchups. Pine Bush is set to face off against Middletown on Tuesday, followed by a game against Monroe on Friday. Both games will be crucial as they look to maintain and build on this last win.
As the team heads into a busy week, Coach Kreeger emphasized the importance of staying focused and continuing to play with the same intensity. “Every game counts, and we’ve got to stay locked in,” he said. “If we keep playing like this, we’ll be in a good position moving forward.
