Westborough, MA — The Mountaineers had another hot start outshooting the Patriots 14 to 3 in the first period and scoring 3 times. Travis Laidlaw scored the first two goals. The first was at 6:26 assisted by Owen Ambach and Matt Bjorkman. His second goal was unassisted at 11:17. Ryan Flaherty would put Wachusett up 3 - 0 at the first intermission as he scored at 14:17 on assists from Bjorkman and Ethan Bennett. Bjorkman would score the lone goal of the second period. This was an unassisted, shorthanded goal at 12:55. North Middlesex avoided the shutout scoring with under 6 minutes left in the game for a final score of 4-1. Trevor Staiti stopped 17 of 18 shots in earning his first win of the season. Wachusett will play in the Battle Road Classic Tournament in Lexington over the holiday break.
