Murrieta, CA — On Wednesday, the Lancer Varsity linksmen played in an 18 hole invitational tournament, "The Battle at Bear Creek", in Murrieta, CA. This was hosted by Great Oak HS in Murrieta. The four teams playing were Great Oak HS, Palm Desert HS, Cathedral Catholic HS, and the Lancers. These four schools have many of the top high school golfers in Southern California. At the end of the match, Cathedral Catholic shot a team score of 363 (5 scores counting out of 6 players), followed by Palm Desert at 366, our Lancers at 376, and then tournament host Great Oak at 406. Team par was 360. Individually for the Lancers, sophomore sensation Kenyon Kahler continued his strong play, finishing solo second with a 3 under par 69, and junior Thomas Browning shooting a solid even par 72, good for 7th place individually. A highlight on the day was sophomore Kaden Chang with an ACE (Hole in One) on the 6th hole!!! This is the teams second ACE of the season, with junior Milan Cohens also knocking one in against San Marcos at Goat Hill Park in the Season Opener. The Battle at Bear Creek was a great test of the Varsity Lancer squad at this point in the season.
