Fontana, CA — Miller Varsity Rebels couldn't keep up with Arroyo Valley and fell 12-2 on Thursday.
An error put Arroyo Valley on the board in the top of the second.
Miller Varsity Rebels captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second after Michael Castillo hit a sacrifice fly, and Ilya Ridge singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Arroyo Valley took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the third thanks to three walks.
Jake Jimenez earned the win for Arroyo Valley. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 13 and walking none. Nolan Streand took the loss for Miller Varsity Rebels. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking five. Ian Escobar led things off on the hill for Arroyo Valley. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one.
Leadoff hitter Ridge led Miller Varsity Rebels with two hits in three at bats.
Castillo and Ridge each drove in one run for Miller Varsity Rebels.
Miller Varsity Rebels will play Rim of the World for their next game on Saturday.
