Kylie Williams collected four hits in four at bats, as Vero Beach Varsity Indians defeated Moore Haven 11-8 on Friday. Williams tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the first inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning.
Vero Beach Varsity Indians got on the board in the first inning after Gabbie Espich grounded out, scoring one run.
Moore Haven took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Neska Blissett walked, and Teena Covarrubias grounded out, each scoring one run.
Vero Beach Varsity Indians took the lead in the top of the third inning after Espich grounded out, and Moore Haven committed an error, each scoring one run.
Vero Beach Varsity Indians scored six runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. Gold Brooklyn Sergent induced Savannah Washburn to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Sergent induced Crysaria Joseph to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Williams tripled, scoring two runs, Trinity Bishop drew a walk, scoring one run, and Miley Torres doubled, scoring one run.
Espich earned the win for Vero Beach Varsity Indians. The starter gave up four hits and eight runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking seven. Sergent took the loss for Moore Haven. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking two.
Washburn and Williams each drove in two runs for Vero Beach Varsity Indians. Joseph stole two bases.
Sergent, Truley Osceola, Preslynn Baker, and Charisma Micco each collected one hit for Moore Haven. Covarrubias, Joellen Erskin, Micco, Blissett, and Lydia Lee each drove in one run for Moore Haven. Moore Haven had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Khole Derouche and Blissett led the team with two bases on balls each.
Vero Beach Varsity Indians will travel to Treasure Coast for their next game on Wednesday.
