From the opening whistle, the Chieftains pressed forward, creating multiple scoring opportunities in the first half but struggling to find the back of the net. Baldwin capitalized on a defensive lapse to take a 1-0 lead before halftime, putting Tonganoxie in an early hole. Early the second half, Baldwin struck again, extending their advantage to 2-0. However, the Chieftains refused to back down. Midway through the half, Natalie Loving provided the spark Tonganoxie needed, slotting home a crucial goal to cut the deficit to 2-1. With time winding down, the Chieftains continued to apply pressure, and their persistence paid off. Grace Weatherford delivered the equalizer, her first of her career, finishing a well-placed assist from Miley Maxwell to bring the score to 2-2.
