Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — The @jserra.baseball team suffered a tough 3-2 loss to the Santa Margarita Eagles in the opening game of their Trinity League series on Tuesday at Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita. The Lions are now 9-11 overall and 4-6 in league. JSerra jumped on top in the first inning. After back-to-back, one-out singles by sophomore Shane D’Arcy and senior Jordan Marian put runners on the corners, junior Blake Bowen’s RBI sacrifice fly plated D’Arcy to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Santa Margarita tied the game on an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning. D’Arcy put the Lions ahead 2-1 in the top of third inning, as he connected on his first home run of the season to right field. Senior Max Reimers started on the mound for the Lions and went 5.2 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, while striking out eight batters. But the Eagles mounted a final at-bat rally in the bottom of the seventh inning that ended with a game-winning two-run single to pull out the win. Marian collected a team-best three hits in four at-bats for the Lions, while D’Arcy and senior Ethan Kriwinski each went 2-for-3. #lionnation #GoLions #jserrabaseball #jserraathletics #faith #intellect #character #pride #sports #studentathlete
