Hacienda Heights, CA — By GameChanger Media Alta Loma Varsity Braves snatched the lead late in their 5-3 victory over Los Altos on Wednesday. The game was tied at three in the top of the eighth when Grant MacCharles homered to right field, scoring two runs. Alta Loma Varsity Braves opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two sacrifice flies. Alta Loma Varsity Braves first got on the board when MacCharles hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Los Altos took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Diego Ortiz, and Luke Rodriguez. Los Altos committed an error, which helped Alta Loma Varsity Braves tie the game at three in the top of the fifth. Jake Zandbergen earned the win for Alta Loma Varsity Braves. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Chris Ramirez took the loss for Los Altos. The reliever went one inning, allowing two runs on one hit, striking out none and walking two. MacCharles started the game for Alta Loma Varsity Braves. The pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking none. Ortiz stepped on the bump first for Los Altos. The hurler gave up zero hits and three runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. MacCharles provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Alta Loma Varsity Braves with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Rodriguez, Nate Barerra, Jacob Vargas, Ortiz, Ethier Diaz, and Logan Guevera each collected one hit for Los Altos. Ortiz led Los Altos with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day.
