South Pasadena, CA — The South Pasadena Varsity Tigers put up a good fight against Monrovia at home on Wednesday, making up a rainout from last week. Unfortunately, they ended up on the losing side, 7-1. There was much to be impressed by, including two hits by Gabe Vogel and singles by Brandon Woo, Cody Robinson, Diego Gurfein, and Dylan Liu. Vogel's sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the second brought home Gurfein for the Tigers' only run. Vogel also contributed with a spectacular catch in center field in the top of the sixth. Earlier in the game, Liu turned a double play when he caught a line drive and quickly threw to second. Jon Bracamonte pitched 4.2 innings, striking out five. Hanson Chan and Isiah Esquivel closed out the game in relief. The next game is on March 27 at San Marino.
