South Pasadena, CA — Despite trailing by as many as four runs, South Pasadena Varsity Tigers rallied to defeat San Marino Varsity Titans 7-5 on Tuesday.
Cassidy Lee collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Lee singled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
San Marino Varsity Titans opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. San Marino Varsity Titans first got on the board when Madeline Bilvado singled, scoring one run.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Norah Parker took the loss for San Marino Varsity Titans. The pitcher went six innings, giving up seven runs (zero earned) on eight hits, striking out six and walking one. Natalie Kan stepped in the circle first for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. The left-handed pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two. Lucia Atencio collected the save.
Kayla Giddings went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Giddings and Bilvado each collected two hits for San Marino Varsity Titans.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers play at home on Friday against Monrovia Varsity Wildcats in their next game.
