South Pasadena, CA — South Pasadena Varsity Tigers won big over Monrovia Varsity Wildcats 14-4 on Friday.
Monrovia Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first inning after Madison Cardona singled to center field, and Mackenzie Delgado scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a tag up by Natalie Kan, and a single by Taelyn Adams.
Monrovia Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the top of the second. Mischa Lue-Long homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Monrovia Varsity Wildcats the lead, 4-2.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring seven runs on three hits to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Kan that drove in two.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Racquel Dominguez doubled, scoring two runs, Emma Becerra singled, scoring one run, Jolene Wu singled, scoring one run, and Kan was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Lucia Atencio earned the win for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking five. Olivia Gallegos took the loss for Monrovia Varsity Wildcats. The hurler went four innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out none and walking six.
South Pasadena Varsity Tigers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Dominguez provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led South Pasadena Varsity Tigers with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Atencio led South Pasadena Varsity Tigers with three hits in four at bats. Kan, Adams, and Becerra each collected multiple hits for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. South Pasadena Varsity Tigers had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Cassidy Lee, Talula Bearden, and Wu led the team with two free passes each. South Pasadena Varsity Tigers didn't commit a single error in the field. Dominguez had the most chances in the field with eight.
Lue-Long went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Cardona and Lue-Long each collected one hit for Monrovia Varsity Wildcats. Monrovia Varsity Wildcats worked the count all day, amassing five walks.
