Aspyn Clark’s Clutch Hitting Propels Show Low Varsity Cougars To Victory Over Blue Ridge

Show Low, AZ — Aspyn Clark drove in four runs on one hit to lead Show Low Varsity Cougars past Blue Ridge 16-3 on Tuesday. Clark hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the fourth inning, scoring one.
Blue Ridge were the first to get on the board in the first when H Krause grounded out, scoring one run.
Show Low Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Tatum Townsend that drove in two.
Four more Show Low Varsity Cougars runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 10-1. Gracie Umphress drew a walk, scoring one run, and Clark homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Show Low Varsity Cougars scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rylee Wyatt singled, scoring one run, Clark drew a walk, scoring one run, Ari Rivera drew a walk, scoring one run, Addisyn Clark singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Clark earned the win for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. K Martinez took the loss for Blue Ridge. The pitcher went four innings, giving up 16 runs (15 earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking six.
Show Low Varsity Cougars tallied 10 hits in the game. Wyatt and Clark each collected two hits for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Show Low Varsity Cougars had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Umphress and Clark led the team with two free passes each. Avery Ervien and Clark each stole multiple bases for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Show Low Varsity Cougars ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the game.
E Stoyer, the number seven hitter for Blue Ridge, led the way with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. B Barton, M Roth, M Slaughter, and Stoyer each collected one hit for Blue Ridge. X Navarro stole two bases.
