Lilly Davis was dominant in the circle, as the starter rang up 12 strikeouts in Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar's 13-4 victory over Holbrook Junior Varsity Roadrunners on Friday. Davis gave up six hits and four runs over six innings while walking none.
Huntlee Garvin collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Garvin doubled in the sixth inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Paysen Slone singled to the right side of the infield, Meylin Munoz tripled to center field, Nelly Rawlings grounded out, and Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
A double by Garvin extended the Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning.
Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar scored six runs on seven hits in the top of the sixth inning. Shiloh Cisneros singled, scoring one run, Malaia McNeil singled, scoring one run, Garvin doubled, scoring two runs, Munoz doubled, scoring one run, and Madison VanWagner doubled, scoring one run.
Arianna Sangster opened the game for Holbrook Junior Varsity Roadrunners. The pitcher gave up six hits and seven runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking seven.
Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar collected 13 hits in the game. Mariah Guinn, Munoz, and McNeil each collected multiple hits for Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar. Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Ruthie Wilhelm and Haylee Beecroft led the team with two free passes each. Guinn, Wilhelm, Beecroft, and Slone each stole multiple bases for Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar. Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar ran wild on the base paths, tallying 10 stolen bases for the game.
Sangster provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Holbrook Junior Varsity Roadrunners with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jaycee Greer and Sangster each collected two hits for Holbrook Junior Varsity Roadrunners.
Show Low Junior Varsity Cougar will travel to Snowflake Junior Varsity Lobos for their next game on Tuesday.
