Show Low, AZ — By GameChanger Media Despite trailing by as many as six runs, Show Low Varsity Cougars rallied to top Winslow 9-7 on Friday. Winslow opened the scoring in the first after Kyah Wilcox hit a solo home run to center field. Winslow scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Wilcox drew a walk, scoring one run, Ara Leonard singled, scoring three runs, and C Palfey doubled, scoring one run. Show Low Varsity Cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to center field by Rylee Wyatt. Show Low Varsity Cougars made the score 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ari Rivera doubled, scoring two runs, and Addisyn Clark homered to center field, scoring two runs. Show Low Varsity Cougars captured the lead, 9-7, in the bottom of the sixth after Angelee Villa hit a sacrifice fly, Gracie Umphress doubled to center field, and Aspyn Clark singled to center field, each scoring one run. Clark earned the win for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The starter surrendered seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking four. Wilcox took the loss for Winslow. The pitcher went six innings, surrendering nine runs (two earned) on nine hits, striking out seven and walking none. Clark, Umphress, Wyatt, and Clark each collected two hits for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Clark, Wyatt, and Rivera each drove in two runs for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Leonard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Winslow with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Wilcox collected two hits for Winslow in three at bats.
