South Pasadena, CA — South Pasadena Varsity Tigers were victorious against Monrovia Varsity Wildcats 5-2 on Thursday. A ground out by Mackenzie Delgado put Monrovia Varsity Wildcats on the board in the top of the first. Bella Ventura doubled to left field, which helped South Pasadena Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. Monrovia Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the top of the fourth. Delgado hit a solo home run to left field, to give Monrovia Varsity Wildcats the lead, 2-1. South Pasadena Varsity Tigers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Ventura drew a walk, scoring one run, and Natalie Kan hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs. Lucia Atencio earned the win for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. The hurler surrendered four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Olivia Gallegos took the loss for Monrovia Varsity Wildcats. The hurler went six innings, giving up five runs on 11 hits, striking out one and walking three. South Pasadena Varsity Tigers piled up 11 hits in the game. Atencio went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead South Pasadena Varsity Tigers in hits. Ventura and Kan each drove in two runs for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers. Emma Becerra collected two hits for South Pasadena Varsity Tigers in three at bats.
