Brodie Fleshman drove in four runs on three hits to lead Skyview Varsity Hawks past Eagle 6-5 on Saturday at Eagle High School. Fleshman doubled in the seventh scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and doubled in the fifth scoring one.
Skyview Varsity Hawks didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the seventh when Nixon Downs hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Skyview Varsity Hawks opened the scoring in the first after Fleshman singled, scoring one run.
Eagle took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Anthony DeVito tripled to center field, and Sam Palfreyman grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
Eagle added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Dallin Snooks singled down the right field line, and Easton Gothberg walked, each scoring one run.
Skyview Varsity Hawks made the score 6-5 in the top of the seventh after Fleshman doubled, scoring two runs, and Downs hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
John Tyson earned the win for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The lefty allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Snooks took the loss for Eagle. The reliever went one inning, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two. Joe Bernal opened the game for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The starter allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking four. Andrew Palfreyman stepped on the hill first for Eagle. The starter allowed one hit and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Keegan Sullivan collected the save.
Skyview Varsity Hawks had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Henry Downey and Tyson led the team with two bases on balls each. Skyview Varsity Hawks turned one double play in the game.
DeVito, Gothberg, Snooks, and Palfreyman each drove in one run for Eagle. Caleb Zawadzki went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Eagle in hits. Gothberg led Eagle with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
