Waukegan, IL — Andrew Mitchell collected three hits in four at bats, as Zee-Bees defeated Waukegan 10-1 on Friday at Bowen Park. Mitchell singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning. AJ Neargarder struck out 14 batters on the day. The starter also gave up three hits and one run over six innings while walking two. Sam Villarreal struck out 3 to finish the game. Zion-Benton jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Jack Marabella drew a walk, scoring one run, Trey Harmon drew a walk, scoring one run, and Mitchell singled, scoring two runs. The Zee-Bees added one run in the second. Michael Gonzalez grounded out, making the score 5-0. The Zee-Bees amassed 11 hits in the game. Harmon led Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Brayden Duran and Mitchell each collected three hits for Zion-Benton. Neargarder collected two hits for the Zee-Bees in three at bats. Zion-Benton had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 13 walks for the game. Harmon and Marabella led the team with three bases on balls each. Mitchell stole three bases.
