Stroudsburg, PA — Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers could not keep pace with Stroudsburg on Wednesday falling to the JV Mountaineers 6-4.
Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jackson Gubich hit a sacrifice fly, and Albert Nova doubled, each scoring one run.
Stroudsburg took the lead in the bottom of the first. An error scored three runs, to give Stroudsburg the advantage, 3-2.
Zack Martenis grounded out, which helped Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers tie the game at three in the top of the second.
A ground out by Brody Dech gave Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth.
Stroudsburg took the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth and added an insurance run in the sixth to secure the victory.
Josh Walkiewicz took the loss for Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on nine hits, striking out five and walking one.
Martenis, Nova, and Dech each collected one hit for Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers. Gubich, Martenis, and Nova each drove in one run for Easton Area Junior Varsity Rovers.
The Junior Varsity Rovers attempt to end their recent skid when they welcome the Freedom Patriots to Charles Richards Field on Friday in Easton.
