Rochester, MI — Adams Varsity Highlanders Loses Despite Out Hitting Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles

Adams Varsity Highlanders fell 7-4 to Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles on Wednesday at Rochester Adams High School despite out-hitting them 11 to five. Olivia Viazanko, Alexis Contreraz, Tenley Boughner, and Lilly Carpenter each collected two hits for Adams Varsity Highlanders.
Adams Varsity Highlanders opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to three singles. Adams Varsity Highlanders first got on the board when Viazanko singled, scoring one run.
Taylor Pacheco doubled to center field, which helped Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles tie the game at three in the top of the third.
In the top of the fifth, Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles broke up the tie when an error scored one run. Then a single by Rian Abraham followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
Anna Bellomo earned the win for Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles. The right-handed pitcher gave up 11 hits and four runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one. Contreraz took the loss for Adams Varsity Highlanders. The righty went seven innings, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking two.
Adams Varsity Highlanders amassed 11 hits in the game. Mia Kahl, Viazanko, Contreraz, and Carpenter each drove in one run for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Boughner stole two bases.
Pacheco drove the middle of the lineup, leading Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Utica Eisenhower Varsity Eagles turned one double play in the game.
Adams Varsity Highlanders play at home on Tuesday against North Farmington in their next game.
