Vassar jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lesko singled, scoring one run, Hecht singled, scoring two runs, a wild pitch scored one run, Horton singled, scoring two runs, and Gleeson drew a walk, scoring one run. A single by Huizar, a single by Hoerlien, and a steal of home by Huizar helped Vassar extend their early lead in the second. Vassar added one run in the third after Jaynes was struck by a pitch. Max Kern stepped on the mound first for Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings. The hurler surrendered eight hits and 12 runs (seven earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking four.
