Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings With Tough Game Against Dryden

Dryden, MI — Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings had trouble keeping up with Dryden in a 13-4 loss on Monday.
Dryden got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Santi Perales singled down the right field line, and Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings committed an error, each scoring one run.
Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings captured the lead, 4-2, in the top of the third when Jeff Diehl drew a walk, scoring one run, and Deegan Walstead doubled, scoring three runs.
Dryden flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Dryden scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Owen Gall drew a walk, scoring one run, Perales singled, scoring two runs, Tj Mersino drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ian Tresnak singled, scoring one run.
Aiden Furneaux earned the win for Dryden. The starter allowed one hit and four runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking four. Walstead took the loss for Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings. The starter went three innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking four.
Walstead provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Max Kern and Walstead each collected one hit for Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings. Kern stole two bases. Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings stole five bases in the game.
Perales, the number seven hitter for Dryden, led the way with four runs batted in. The third baseman went 3-for-3 on the day. Furneaux collected two hits for Dryden in three at bats. Dryden had a strong eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Tresnak and Gall led the team with two free passes each. Jayden Stankevich, Tresnak, Perales, and Mersino each stole multiple bases for Dryden. Dryden stole 12 bases in the game. Dryden didn't commit a single error in the field. Gall had the most chances in the field with 11.
