Fairgrove, MI — Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings had trouble keeping up with Peck in an 18-0 loss on Monday. Peck got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cam Watson walked, Brandon Affer walked, and Nathan VanConant singled to center field, each scoring one run. Peck scored nine runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. An error scored three runs, Affer singled, scoring three runs, Watson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Grady Welch drew a walk, scoring one run. Peck scored six runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. VanConant singled, scoring one run, Honza Pohlman tripled, scoring two runs, and Dorian Abrego doubled, scoring three runs. Max Kern started the game for Akron-Fairgrove Varsity Vikings. The righty surrendered three hits and nine runs (four earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking six. Pohlman began the game for Peck. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking none. Peck tallied 10 hits in the game. Abrego drove the middle of the lineup, leading Peck with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
