Armada Fall After Strong Showing By East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines

Florence, SC — Armada had trouble keeping up with East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines in a 15-2 loss on Saturday.
East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Bailey Hicks scored after tagging up, Ashlyn Gaskins tripled, scoring two runs, B Locklear singled, scoring one run, and Layke Jeffords singled, scoring two runs.
East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Alyssa Driggers homered to center field, and Ashlyn Gaskins grounded out, each scoring one run.
East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the third inning. Bailey Hicks singled, scoring two runs, Laiklyn Gaskins singled, scoring one run, Payton Hanniford doubled, scoring two runs, Ashlyn Gaskins singled, scoring one run, and Megan Brown singled, scoring one run.
Layke Jeffords earned the win for East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Baley Hans took the loss for Armada. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, allowing nine runs on six hits, striking out none and walking three.
Sophia Loviero and Annabelle Senecal were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Armada while hitting back-to-back.
East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines piled up 12 hits in the game. Ashlyn Gaskins drove the middle of the lineup, leading East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines with four runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Ashlyn Gaskins and Laiklyn Gaskins each collected two hits for East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines. Payton Hanniford paced East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Bailey Hicks, Ann Grace Knowlton, and Laiklyn Gaskins each stole multiple bases for East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines. East Clarendon Varsity Wolverines stole eight bases in the game.
