Both teams were strong on the bump on Friday, but Rigby Varsity Trojans was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over Skyview Varsity Hawks. Ledger Downs started the game for Skyview Varsity Hawks and recorded nine outs.
Skyview Varsity Hawks lost despite out-hitting Rigby Varsity Trojans five to four. Henry Downey and Downs each collected two hits for Skyview Varsity Hawks.
Rigby Varsity Trojans got on the board in the top of the third inning after Quinn Bennett doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
DJ Boudrero earned the win for Rigby Varsity Trojans. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Parker Kons pitched four innings in relief for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out five and walking one. Downs took the loss for Skyview Varsity Hawks. The starter went three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking one. Kadyn Hench earned the save.
John Tyson went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
Number eight hitter, Jack Byram, showed the depth of Rigby Varsity Trojans's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Bennett led Rigby Varsity Trojans with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Rigby Varsity Trojans turned two double plays in the game.
