Darien, CT — By GameChanger Media Westhill Varsity Vikings snatched the lead late in their 5-3 victory over Darien on Thursday. The game was tied at three in the top of the eighth when Danny Gattuso singled, scoring two runs. A single by Tanner Rooney put Westhill Varsity Vikings on the board in the top of the second. Darien jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Devin Montesano grounded out, and Tyler Spellman singled up the middle, each scoring one run. Darien committed an error, which helped Westhill Varsity Vikings tie the game at three in the top of the seventh. Logan Parra stepped on the hill first for Westhill Varsity Vikings. The left-handed pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking five. Tyler Easterbrook stepped on the bump first for Darien. The starter surrendered six hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Ethan Dianis pitched two and one-third innings of shutout ball for Westhill Varsity Vikings in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Westhill Varsity Vikings tallied 10 hits in the game. Matthew Brucker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Westhill Varsity Vikings in hits.
