Washington, CT — Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks DefBy GameChanger Media Cam Culgren drove in four runs on two hits to lead Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks past Shepaug Valley 6-3 on Monday. Cam Culgren singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and tripled in the third inning, scoring two. Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks opened the scoring in the first after Cam Culgren singled, scoring two runs. Shepaug Valley jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after #28 singled to center field, #5 walked, and Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks committed an error, each scoring one run. Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks took the lead in the top of the third. Cam Culgren tripled, scoring two runs, to give Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks the leg up, 4-3. Jacob Buckley started on the mound for Newtown Junior Varsity Nighthawks. The southpaw gave up one hit and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking two. #5 began the game for Shepaug Valley.
