Shelton, CT — By GameChanger Media Jeanise Serrano drove in six runs on three hits to lead Shelton Varsity Softball past Hamden 17-0 on Monday. Jeanise Serrano hit a home run to center field in the fourth scoring three, doubled in the first scoring one, and singled in the first scoring one. Sammi Denihan struck out 12 batters on the day. The starter also surrendered zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking none. Shelton Varsity Softball got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jeanise Serrano doubled, scoring one run, Chayse DellaRocco singled, scoring one run, Sammi Denihan drew a walk, scoring one run, Sadie Balocca singled, scoring two runs, Abby Montero singled, scoring one run, Avery Wheeler singled, scoring one run, and Jeanise Serrano singled, scoring one run. Shelton Varsity Softball added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Salina Clemente walked, Tori Silva walked, Avery Wheeler walked, Salina Clemente scored after tagging up, Chayse DellaRocco doubled down the left field line, and Sammi Denihan singled to center field, each scoring one run. Jeanise Serrano homered to center field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Shelton Varsity Softball. Felicity Potkay started in the circle for Hamden. The starter allowed eight hits and 13 runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking seven. Shelton Varsity Softball amassed 14 hits in the game. Sadie Balocca and Jeanise Serrano each collected three hits for Shelton Varsity Softball. Chayse DellaRocco collected two hits for Shelton Varsity Softball in three at bats. Shelton Varsity Softball had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 12 walks for the game. Blake Hall, Salina Clemente, and Sammi Denihan led the team with two walks each. Hamden were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Maddy Rollinson had the most chances in the field with four.
