Shelton Varsity Softball scored nine runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Branford 14-0 on Tuesday. Jeanise Serrano drew a walk, scoring one run, Chayse DellaRocco drew a walk, scoring one run, Sammi Denihan doubled, scoring one run, Sadie Balocca tripled, scoring two runs, Ally Burrows singled, scoring one run, Abby Montero grounded out, scoring one run, Jeanise Serrano singled, scoring one run, and Chayse DellaRocco singled, scoring one run.
Shelton Varsity Softball extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI walks by Abby Montero and Avery Wheeler.
Sammi Denihan stepped in the circle first for Shelton Varsity Softball. The starter gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Sophia Falcigno led things off in the circle for Branford. The starter surrendered three hits and seven runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking five.
Sadie Balocca and Jeanise Serrano each collected two hits for Shelton Varsity Softball. Sadie Balocca went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Shelton Varsity Softball had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 14 walks for the game. Avery Wheeler and Chayse DellaRocco led the team with three walks each.
Payton Paleski and Shelby Burnham each collected one hit for Branford.
