Avery Wheeler collected three hits in four at bats, as Shelton Varsity Softball defeated Sacred Heart Academy 15-3 on Wednesday. Avery Wheeler doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning.
Shelton Varsity Softball were the first to get on the board in the first when Chayse DellaRocco tripled, scoring one run.
Shelton Varsity Softball scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Tori Silva drew a walk, scoring one run, Avery Wheeler singled, scoring one run, Jeanise Serrano doubled, scoring two runs, Chayse DellaRocco singled, scoring one run, Isabella Rossetti scored after tagging up, and an error scored one run.
Sammi Denihan led things off in the circle for Shelton Varsity Softball. The starter gave up 10 hits and three runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. M Brown started in the circle for Sacred Heart Academy. The hurler surrendered one hit and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking five.
Shelton Varsity Softball accumulated 11 hits in the game. Jeanise Serrano provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Shelton Varsity Softball with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Chayse DellaRocco and Burrows each collected multiple hits for Shelton Varsity Softball. Shelton Varsity Softball had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Abby Montero, Jeanise Serrano, and Tori Silva led the team with two walks each. Shelton Varsity Softball ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.
Sacred Heart Academy accumulated 10 hits in the game. M Troy provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Sacred Heart Academy with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. A Caporale, M Troy, and M Tortora each collected two hits for Sacred Heart Academy. Sacred Heart Academy turned one double play in the game.
