Both teams were strong in the circle on Friday, but Shelton Varsity Softball defeated East Haven 1-0. Sammi Denihan started the game for Shelton Varsity Softball and recorded 21 outs.
Shelton Varsity Softball didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the fifth when Jeanise Serrano doubled, scoring one run.
Sammi Denihan started in the circle for Shelton Varsity Softball. The starter allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none. Santoro led things off in the circle for East Haven. The hurler gave up eight hits and one run over six innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
Jeanise Serrano went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Avery Wheeler led Shelton Varsity Softball with three hits in three at bats.
Santoro and Dion each collected one hit for East Haven. East Haven were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Dion made the most plays with 12.
