Fullerton, CA — Fullerton Varsity Tribe fell 8-2 to Long Beach Poly on Thursday despite out-hitting them 10 to seven. Melia Vera led Fullerton Varsity Tribe with three hits. Long Beach Poly were the first to get on the board in the fourth when Kween Tauala hit a solo home run to left field. Long Beach Poly scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Emoni Lam Sam. Fullerton Varsity Tribe tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two singles. Fullerton Varsity Tribe tied the game at two on a single by Ariel Enriquez. Long Beach Poly captured the lead, 8-2, in the top of the eighth after Fullerton Varsity Tribe committed an error, and Isabella Cisneros homered to left field, each scoring three runs. Katelynn Mathews started in the circle for Fullerton Varsity Tribe. The pitcher gave up four hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking three. Star T Sepulveda led things off in the circle for Long Beach Poly. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out two and walking two. Fullerton Varsity Tribe tallied 10 hits in the game. Ariel Enriquez and Melia Vera each drove in one run for Fullerton Varsity Tribe. Hayley Brock and Naia Su'e each collected multiple hits for Fullerton Varsity Tribe. Fullerton Varsity Tribe turned one double play in the game.
