Tanner, AL — Tanner Junior Varsity Rattlers were victorious against Athens Bible JH/JV Trojans 10-7 on Monday. Athens Bible JH/JV Trojans got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tucker Russell lined out, and Leo Nicholson walked, each scoring one run. Tanner Junior Varsity Rattlers captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the first when Jackson Owens was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Hunter Moss singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run. Tanner Junior Varsity Rattlers extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Saban Long and Ashley Lagrone. Tanner Junior Varsity Rattlers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Trae Malone stole home, Javen Carter singled down the right field line, and Michael Dempsey walked, each scoring one run. Owens earned the win for Tanner Junior Varsity Rattlers. The starter gave up one hit and seven runs (zero earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking 10. Kyler Johns took the loss for Athens Bible JH/JV Trojans. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking three.
