Avery Ervien’s Clutch Hitting Propels Show Low Varsity Cougars To Victory Over Tuba City

Avery Ervien drove in five runs on four hits to lead Show Low Varsity Cougars past Tuba City 32-2 on Wednesday. Ervien singled in the first scoring two, singled in the third scoring two, hit a solo home run to left field in the second scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one.
Show Low Varsity Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ari Rivera singled, scoring one run, Ervien singled, scoring two runs, Tatum Townsend doubled, scoring one run, Angelee Villa singled, scoring one run, Gracie Umphress drew a walk, scoring one run, and Rivera singled, scoring two runs.
Show Low Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Addisyn Clark homered to center field, Ervien homered to left field, and Tuba City committed an error, each scoring one run.
Show Low Varsity Cougars scored 10 runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Rivera singled, scoring one run, Ervien singled, scoring two runs, Villa singled, scoring two runs, Umphress drew a walk, scoring one run, Aspyn Clark lined out, scoring two runs, and Ervien singled, scoring one run.
Show Low Varsity Cougars scored 11 runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Abbie Boggs singled, scoring one run, Lyndie Wallentine singled, scoring one run, Mariah Giunn was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Haylee Beecroft singled, scoring one run, Meylin Munoz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Rylee Wyatt tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Riley Heuett earned the win for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The righty allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. J Acothley took the loss for Tuba City. The pitcher went four innings, allowing 32 runs (20 earned) on 20 hits, striking out two and walking 13. Clark collected the save.
Show Low Varsity Cougars piled up 20 hits in the game. Wyatt, Villa, Clark, and Rivera each collected multiple hits for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Show Low Varsity Cougars had patience at the plate, piling up 13 walks for the game. Umphress and Heuett led the team with three free passes each. Clark, Clark, and Beecroft each stole multiple bases for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Show Low Varsity Cougars ran wild on the base paths, accumulating nine stolen bases for the game.
T Clitso and M Martinez each collected one hit for Tuba City. Tuba City turned one double play in the game.
Show Low Varsity Cougars will travel to Payson for their next game on Thursday.
