West Bloomfield, MI — Big First Inning Leads Adams Varsity Highlanders Past West Bloomfield Varsity Lakers By GameChanger Media Adams Varsity Highlanders defeated West Bloomfield Varsity Lakers 20-5 on Thursday at West Bloomfield High School thanks in part to 11 runs in the first inning. Elle Moody singled, scoring one run, Abigail Young drew a walk, scoring one run, Sadie Murphree drew a walk, scoring one run, Mallory Dawood drew a walk, scoring one run, Alexis Contreraz drew a walk, scoring one run, Olivia Viazanko doubled, scoring three runs, Moody doubled, scoring one run, and Young homered to center field, scoring two runs. West Bloomfield Varsity Lakers got on the board in the top of the first inning after LAIKEN CONNOR singled down the left field line, and ASHLEIGH MC GUIRE walked, each scoring one run. Adams Varsity Highlanders scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. Contreraz tripled, scoring one run, Tenley Boughner hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, Moody doubled, scoring one run, and Young doubled, scoring one run. Adams Varsity Highlanders added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Dawood doubled, scoring one run, Stella Phillips singled, scoring one run, and Lilly Carpenter doubled, scoring two runs. Viazanko earned the win for Adams Varsity Highlanders. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking one. MORGAN CHRISTIAN took the loss for West Bloomfield Varsity Lakers. The starter went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering 11 runs on six hits, striking out none and walking six. Alivia Cook appeared in relief for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Adams Varsity Highlanders tallied 16 hits in the game. Moody led Adams Varsity Highlanders with three hits in three at bats. Viazanko and Young each drove in three runs for Adams Varsity Highlanders. Boughner and Dawood each collected multiple hits for Adams Varsity Highlanders.
